Australia, down under is a really big country…
Australia is world’s largest and only island continent with a land area of 7,686,850 sq km.
Australia is the planet’s 6th largest country after Russia, Canada, China, the USA, and Brazil.
It’s also packed with the most deadly creatures in the world
(and that’s not including the media who tell us that Australia is devoid of all culture except sports)
but wait…
there’s more…
Australian First Peoples have been living here for Millenia
Indigenous Aboriginal Australia is made up of many different and distinct groups, each with their own culture, customs, language and laws. They are the world’s oldest surviving culture. The ancestors of Aboriginal Australians began arriving by land bridges and short sea crossings from what is now S.E. Asia approximately 65,000 years ago, during the last ice age.
The map shows only the general locations of larger tribal groups of people which may include smaller tribal groups. Circled in red are the general regional names. There are also variations in the way that some language or group names are spelt. Names and regions used are from the Encyclopedia of Aboriginal Australia published in 1994 by Aboriginal Studies Press.
