Queen Elizabeth Theatre VancouverThe Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 630 Hamilton Street, Vancouver, officially opened on July 5, 1959. The building holds two venues: the 2,765 seat main auditorium which has a  70′ wide x 40′ deep stage, and the 668 seat Playhouse Theatre. Owned by the City of Vancouver and operated by Vancouver Civic Theatres, the impact of the theatre was immediate and profound: for the first time, major roadshows staged across the U.S. border in Seattle were compelled to extend their tours to Vancouver.
