Elton John & Tim Rice’s AIDA (China Tour)

2008/2009 mainland China tour of the Big League Productions of Elton John & Tim Rice’s AIDA with a book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls and David Henry Hwang including routing, presenter negotiation, marketing, company management of 78 touring people and physical production logistics.

AIDA China tour cities included: Tianjin (rehearsal); Shanghai Majestic Theatre; Wuhan Theatre; Ningbo Grand Theatre; Hangzhou Grand Theatre; Xi’an Grand Theatre; Huhhot; Beijing and Tianjin.

AIDA was originally directed by Robert Falls and produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. Big League Theatricals, Inc. acquired the rights to create this touring production which was produced by Daniel Sher and presented in China by Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment LLC in association with Beijing Time New Century Entertainment Co. Ltd. dba in China as Beijing Nederlander New Century International Theater Management Co. Ltd. Executive Produced by Toby Simkin.

The Broadway production of Elton John & Tim Rice’s AIDA with music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang based on the opera by Giuseppe Verdi opened at the Palace Theatre on March 23, 2000 and ran a total of 1,852 performances until September 5, 2004 with a total attendance of 2,714,193 patrons and grossing a total of USD $165,928,398.00.
